Historical Inquiry

QUESTION: How did the children think about the jobs then verses how they think about it now?
ANSWER: I think that the children thought that they would do it to support their family and they didn't really care what it would do to them. For example in the textbook on page 26 there is a section on Martin Butler and how he was the youngest child of 11 and he spent his childhood working and helping his family pay the income. When he was 18 he was working in harsh conditions and his arm got cut off but he survived. This is an example of how the children were treated and from it you can probably tell what he is thinking. But now children don't want to o have to because most jobs are for adults and get a good enough pay to support their family without the kids needing to do any work. Kids now might still do chores that they call jobs and they get payed for that but it isn't in harsh conditions.
In conclusion I feel that the children in the 1850s/60s just wanted to have a home and food so they worked for it but now the kids don't need to because their parents can get enough money to pay off all the bills and get food so the kids don't think about having to work
